Inside out – Balancing Beauty Bowl

Inside out – Balancing Beauty Bowl

Another wonderfully scrumptious easy everyday recipe from the lovely Bella, this power packed blend uses our new collagen powder as well as hormone balancing Maca. Really up the ante by adding in Acai Berry Blend or try Greens and Reds powder if you want something less sweet!

The infamous smoothie bowl finally makes it’s debut! This is quite possibly the most used & abused item in the food community – but with good reason.

Throughout the warmer seasons, a smoothie bowl is my go-to breakfast. (I even went through a phase of having them for dinner when the cravings set in… they are that addictive). The reason I love them is firstly because of the simplicity, secondly because of the incredible health benefits per serve, and thirdly because the taste & visual impact is arguably, unbeatable.

This particular recipe I am sharing today is my go-to ‘Maca Berry Bowl’. Complete with superfood’s such as Cacao powder, Maca powder, Collagen Powder, Chia Seeds, Blueberries and Coconut Water – this recipe leaves you feeling fresh, energised and ready to rock the rest of your day with the best attitude. You know how people say eating well will make you feel better inside & out? This is the truth with this bowl.

That Peanut Butter!

Feel free to be flexible with the ingredients, if you don’t have one of the added superfood’s on hand it’s no big deal. Just substitute it with something you do have or skip it out entirely. The great thing about a smoothie is that they’re nearly impossible to mess up if you’re using fresh and vibrant ingredients. However, a decent blender is a necessity. As you’re handling frozen bananas and blending leafy greens – you want to ensure you don’t have any lumps and bumps that take away from the texture. I use a VitaMix but any other powerful blender such as a NutraBullet should be fine.

Ingredients:

For the smoothie:

1 1/2 frozen Bananas
1 cup frozen Mixed Berries (Hint: for a more vibrant bowl like I've done – use mainly strawberries & raspberries. For an earthier bowl – use mainly blueberries & blackberries).
1 tablespoon Peanut Butter
1 heaped teaspoon Nutra Organics Maca powder
1 heaped tablespoon Cacao powder
1 cup baby Spinach or Kale
1 Scoop Nutra Organics Collagen Beauty or Body
1 teaspoon Immunity Powder
100ml coconut water

For the toppings:

1/2 Kiwifruit, chopped and skinned
Handful of pineapple, chopped
Granola (of your choice)
1 tablespoon desiccated coconut
1 tablespoon Peanut Butter (if you are an avid PB fan – otherwise leave it out)

Method:

1. In a blender combine all smoothie ingredients and blend until it resembles the texture of creamy ice cream.
2. Transfer your blended smoothie into a bowl and serve with your chosen toppings.
3. Take a cheeky photo and share it with the world. ENJOY.
