8 Thoughtful Valentine’s Ideas (That Cost Less)

Idea 1 Movie night, but make it special

You can have dinner and a movie at home. Order in, it can even be pizza.. just make the room romantic. Put some dollar store candles on and have a comedy or favourite movie already picked out and buy their favourite movie theater snacks. Buy a small dessert like Bennetto’s chocolate from Natural Things and make chocolate dipped strawberries.

Idea 2 Made with my own fair hands

Handmake an absolutely beautiful card. Often it’s about the words inside the card that really matter. Write a few thoughtful paragraphs where you are very open and vulnerable and put your heart on the line.

Idea 3 Press play on the memories

Create your own custom playlist especially for the occasion. Can be paired with a romantic night in like idea 1 on this list. 

Idea 4 Make dinner together

Pick up the ingredients beforehand so everything is ready. Drink wine and dance in the kitchen before enjoying the meal together in front of your favourite movie together.  

Idea 5 An oldie but a goodie

A classic which doesn’t happen often enough is a board game night. Goes well with most of the ideas on this list so mix and match to your hearts content.

Idea 5 Spread out a blanket 

Picnic outside weather permitting or inside in the living room for a more cozy night in. Thrift stores have lots of wicker baskets for a fun presentation of the prepared food (add matching Fressko coffee cups or drinking flasks to complete the moment). 

Idea 6 An upgrade he didn’t know he needed

Something he already uses but could do with an upgrade like a wallet that is falling apart has always been my go to gift idea (or the premium plastic-free Albatross Razor and blades kit)

Idea 7 Shake things up

Make your own cocktail or better yet bring the ingredients home and make each other a cocktail.

None of these ideas have to cost a lot but the intention behind them can make all the difference.
