10 Ways to Shorten the Flu

10 Ways to Shorten the Flu

Winter is well and truly on its way and so are the nasty bugs that come with it but never fear, because here are some natural remedies that can help to beat that winter bug:

Sip a soothing immunity tea.

Brew yourself up a warm tea, like our favourite Immunity Tea full designed to support healthy immune function. Offering subtle hints of sweet liquorice root, vitalizing elements of zesty ginger and earthy tones of echinacea.

Get plenty of sunshine.

Vitamin D is essential for the immune system. If there’s no sunshine, keep up your super foods like oily fish, dark leafy greens, nuts, seed, organics eggs and Super Greens + Reds!

Sip on Bone broth

High in protein and rich in minerals that can support immunity and adrenals, and contains healing compounds such as collagen, glutamine, that can help with joint health as well as improve digestive health and reduce inflammation.  A healthy gut = healthy immune system try Turmeric Bone Broth for extra anti-inflammatory benefits

Get moving.

There’s nothing better than a brisk walk on a cold morning. Exercise reduces stress, and stress negatively affects our immunity. So walk/run/ride/swim yourself to keep healthy through the season.

Daily Super Greens + Reds.

Our all in one, nutrient dense Super Greens + Reds, will help to fill any nutritional gaps and support your immune system. During the colder months, it is vital to try and remember to take it every day to provide a steady stream of extra help your body can rely on. Set an alarm on your phone, or make it part of your morning routine! Simply mix some into a glass of water, or try a Super Greens & Reds Elixir.

Hydration.

Dehydration is SO common in winter as it is harder to drink water when it is chilly out. Make sure you stay hydrated by having water handy!

Curl up and watch funny movies.

Laughing (and cuddling) release endorphins and feel good hormones which increase your immune system. You don't have to ask us twice!

Slice fresh garlic and put it in your socks.

Sounds weird – we know! BUT Garlic’s antibacterial properties are absorbed through your feet. Ok, you will smell a bit garlicky, but if the flu strikes choose garlic every time!

Give dry brushing or exfoliation a try.

After your brisk walk, or at the end of the day, dry brushing has many benefits such as: stimulating circulation, assisting with lymphatic drainage and ridding the skin of dead cells, plus it feels amazing!  Try our Eco Tan Himalayan Slat Scrub  a try

Hit the hay.

Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for the immune system. It is the only time that the body can fully repair, as all the waking hours it is busy running the day to day tasks – eating, walking, talking. Plus the sleeping hours before midnight are very valuable and we have fewer daylight hours in winter, so work with nature.

So next time to you sense a dreaded cold coming on, try these simple tricks and show that cold who’s boss.
